Power off? Burning smell? Call first.

Some urgent faults can be made safe with a switch while you wait. Some are a network problem, not your house. We work out which on the phone, then give you an honest arrival time, or tell you straight if we cannot get there soon enough.

  1. Smoke or flames: get out and call 999.Do not try to reach the consumer unit through smoke.
  2. Burning smell or scorching: switch off at the main switch.Only if you can reach it safely. Stop using the socket or appliance.
  3. Neighbours off too? Call 105.105 is the free national power cut line. In the North East it puts you through to Northern Powergrid.
  4. Only your house off? Check the consumer unit.Reset a tripped switch once. If it trips again straight away, leave it off and call us.

Do you charge for quotes?

Quotes for planned work are free. For fault finding we charge by time, and quote the first hour before we arrive.

Will the quote change?

A written quote is fixed for the work it describes. If we find something unexpected, such as damaged cable behind a wall, we stop, explain it, and agree any change with you before carrying on.

Will I get a certificate?

Yes, every job is certified. New circuits and board changes come with an Electrical Installation Certificate; smaller alterations with a Minor Works Certificate. Notifiable work is registered with building control.

How long will the power be off?

It depends on the job. We tell you in advance, and keep essential circuits running wherever the work allows.

Where do you work?

Across County Durham, Sunderland and Tyne and Wear, including Durham, Seaham, Washington, Chester-le-Street, Houghton-le-Spring and Peterlee. If you are just outside, ask.
